Evangelos G. Giakoumis received his Diploma (1992) in Mechanical Engineering and his PhD (1998) from the National Technical Univ. of Athens (NTUA), Greece. Afterwards, he worked for six years as an Area Manager at the After-sales Department of the Peugeot Automobiles Distributor in Greece, before being appointed Lecturer (2005) at the NTUA. He is currently Asst. Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the NTUA, on the track for Associate Professor.
His research focuses on diesel engine analysis under transient conditions, second-law analysis, and the use of alternative fuels. He has published more than 80 papers in International Journals, Conferences and Book Chapters, a monograph (“Diesel Engine Transient Operation”, Springer-Verlag, London, 2009) and several university textbooks.
Prof. Giakoumis is recipient of best Mechanical Engineers Diploma Thesis Award from the Technical Chamber of Greece (1992), SAE Engineering Meetings Board Outstanding Oral Presentation Award (2007), and ASCE J. of Energy Engineering Outstanding Reviewer Award (2014), has co-edited three special issues for International Journals (Int. J. of Vehicle Design (2007, 2009) and Proc. of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D, J. of Automobile Engineering (2011)), has (co)chaired sessions in the ECOS International Conference, serves as a member of the Editorial Board in several international Journals, and has been a recurring invited reviewer for numerous International Journals and Conferences.
