Doctor of Science from the School of Biological Sciences, Autonomous University of Nuevo León, Mexico.
From 1987 to 1997 lecturer at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Subjects include: IV Zoology, Ichthyology, Aquaculture, Animal Comparative Anatomy.
Currently, titular researcher at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, Chetumal. Main Project: Osteology and Barcode of Life of Freshwater and Marine Mexican Fish.
One year sabbatical leave at the University of Guelph (Canada)
