Calcium-dependent glutamate release from astrocytes, visualization of vesicular/receptor trafficking,  interactions between exocytotic proteins using single molecule detection approaches, development of scaffolds and dispersible materials, most notably modified carbon nanotubes, bio-mimetic micro-robotics
